Bath re-enamelling for Tokyngton homes

What affects the price in Tokyngton

Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is
  • The type of damage

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. It helps if you send:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • The material, if you know it
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Something in shot to show the size

If you are in Tokyngton and want a price, the easiest route is photos: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Bath re-enamelling in Tokyngton without replacing anything

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. We work on basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and acrylic baths, and common reasons people contact us are several chips and rust patches and worn patches where water runs and sits.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Tokyngton and across Greater London.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Tokyngton questions

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Will the bath be moved?

Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

Do you cover the entire of Greater London?

We cover the whole UK, including Tokyngton and the rest of Greater London. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

How do I book?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

Care for it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

How the visit works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to the best part of a day.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Getting a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Advice

Repair or replace in Tokyngton?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why book with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Colour mixed on the day to match

See our full price list and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

What we cannot put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

For landlords and businesses

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.
