Bath re-enamelling in Torpoint, done in place
Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. We work on Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are a coloured bath you want in white and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it.
All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee.

When to call us in Torpoint
By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Re-enamelling deals with all of them in one go.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
- A coloured bath you want in white
- Thin, worn enamel in places
What to look for in a quote
- How to care for the finish
- A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
- How the room is protected while they work
- What prep work is covered
Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Acrylic
Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.
What affects the price in Torpoint
Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:
- What kind of damage it is
- Unusual colours or finishes
- How many items we do on one visit
- The size and number of damaged areas
A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
Send photos for a quote
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:
- Any details about the material
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job the same day in most cases.
Aftercare tips
So the finish stays in good condition:
- Do not leave a chip unrepaired
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.
The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
DIY kit or professional repair?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
What a repair cannot fix
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- A bath that is rusted through
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.
Surfaces we repair

Questions from Torpoint
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.
Do you need to take the bath out?
No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Generally, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.
Is a repair better than a new one?
Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
What areas do you cover?
Across the UK, and that includes Torpoint. Prices do not change with location.
Can a failed resurfacing be redone?
In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
Will it make a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.
How the visit works
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which typically takes a full day. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
Getting ready for the visit
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Clear the area around the damage

Why repair rather than replace?
A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and generally a day. Prices start from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.
