Trusted bath re-enamelling in Trimingham

Bath re-enamelling in Trimingham, done in place

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. If you’re dealing with a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, we can typically put it right, on basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths alike.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Trimingham. The price reflects:

  • Access to the area
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Getting a price from pictures

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is generally as strong as ever.

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

  • What preparation is included

How to compare quotes

When we would advise against a repair

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

What happens on the day

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Store bottles off the bath

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
