Bath re-enamelling in Wallace without replacing anything
Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. Common call-outs are for wear marks under the taps and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, on basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths.
All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Common problems we fix in Wallace
Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Wear marks under the taps
- An old resurfacing that is failing
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
What your quote should include
- What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
- Aftercare advice
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

Landlords, agents and businesses in Wallace
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.
We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
How the visit works
From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes the best part of a day, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.
How to prepare
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
Getting a price
There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
Advice
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
When a repair isn’t the answer
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Wallace: your questions answered
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
Does re-enamelling smell?
Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.
Can you price it without visiting?
Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.
Are there extra charges for Wallace?
There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.
Do you come to Wallace?
We do. We send a technician to Wallace for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
Will the bath be moved?
No, it stays where it is. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.
Will there be a smell?
A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.
How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Wallace?
Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
Why repair rather than replace?
For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
Why Wallace customers choose us
- Dust sheets down, tidy finish
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- Colour mixed on the day to match
- One-year guarantee on every repair

Keeping it looking good
Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, especially in hard water areas, so limescale cannot build up.
Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.
