Bath re-enamelling in Wash Water

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Wash Water

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Our technicians work on Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and lots of chips and rust spots.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Landlord and trade work in Wash Water

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

When to call us in Wash Water

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • Stains that will not shift
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days

What to look for in a quote

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Who will actually do the work

10 questions to ask before you book

What a repair cannot fix

We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes the best part of a day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

How to get a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is generally much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Prices start from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Why book with us

  • Everything repaired in place
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year

See our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material

Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Getting a price from photos

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any details about the material
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

How to care for the repair

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Repair dripping taps early

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
