Bath re-enamelling near Winchelsea

Bath re-enamelling in Winchelsea without replacing anything

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Whether it’s several chips and rust patches and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, we can usually put it right.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What happens on the day

We agree an arrival time beforehand. On site, it takes most of the day for most jobs. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

How to get a price

For landlords and businesses

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Our hiring checklist

Questions from Winchelsea

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

Do you cover Winchelsea?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Winchelsea. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

Are there extra charges for Winchelsea?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Should you replace it?

A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and normally a day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

When we’d advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
