Bath re-enamelling at your home in Womersley

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. Whether it’s lots of chips and rust spots and a coloured bath you want in white, we can normally put it right.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

Common questions in Womersley

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Womersley?

Resurfacing from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before you book.

Will the bath be moved?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

How long does re-enamelling last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote.

What a repair can’t fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath split right through the body
  • A bath that’s rusted through

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and typically a day, with the bath back in use the following day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

What we do, step by step

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take most of the day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Open a window if you can

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Any details about the material
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
