FAQs for Woodend
Do you come to Woodend?
We do. We send a technician to Woodend for every job, with no extra charge for travel.
Is repairing better than replacing?
In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.
Is there a call-out fee?
Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.
Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?
Yes, frequently. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.
Can pets and children be at home?
We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.
Will there be fumes?
A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Can a failed resurfacing be redone?
Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.
How we handle bath re-enamelling in Woodend
If your bath is sound but looks tired, resurfacing is normally the best value. There is no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We work on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays, and people most frequently call us about staining under the taps and around the waste and worn patches where water runs and sits.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. There is no area surcharge for Woodend. The price reflects:
- The colour and finish to match
- How many items we do on one visit
- What kind of damage it is
- The material and finish
Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Woodend. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Send pictures for a quote
Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A picture taken from further back
- What it’s made of, if you know
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price.
When we would advise against a repair
We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
- Holes rusted through the metal
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.
Materials we repair
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Pressed steel baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Cast iron baths

What else we do in Woodend
Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacing a bath typically involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and usually one day, with the bath ready the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
The process
On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take most of the day. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.
Getting ready for the visit
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Keep a parking space free if you can
Getting a price
You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Aftercare tips
To keep it looking its best:
- Get any chip repaired quickly
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Fix dripping taps quickly
Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
