Bath re-enamelling in Woodlands

How it works

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the work takes the best part of a day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Advice

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Woodlands

We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. If you’re dealing with enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, we can typically put it right.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Woodlands: your questions answered

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Is there a smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the entire surface without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Woodlands. The price comes down to:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material and finish
  • How many areas need work
  • Access to the area

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Send photos for a quote

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Any details about the material

For a price in Woodlands, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Common problems we fix in Woodlands

Enamel does not fail overnight. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, typically first under the taps and around the waste.

Most people contact us when they notice something like this:

  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • Stains that will not shift
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Wear marks under the taps

What your quote should include

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Who will actually do the work
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether the price covers travel

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • A bath that is rusted through
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.
