Bath re-enamelling in World's End

Repairing versus replacing in World's End

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

About our bath re-enamelling in World's End

We don’t move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. It usually takes one visit, and can be used again the following day. We’re frequently asked to fix a peeling or bubbling previous coating and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, on basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • How much damage there is
  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Unusual colours or finishes

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book.

Quotes from your pictures

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any details about the material
  • A picture taken from further back

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

World's End questions

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we frequently do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Chips and rust in more than one place

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a full day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
