What a repair cannot fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Bath re-enamelling in Y Graig without replacing anything

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Common call-outs are for worn patches where water runs and sits and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, in Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It typically takes most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Common questions in Y Graig

How do I book?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Will there be fumes?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. We give a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item with your SA16 postcode.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Can tenants book a repair?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Do you cover the entire of Carmarthenshire?

We cover the whole UK, including Y Graig and the rest of Carmarthenshire. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

What affects the price in Y Graig

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material
  • How hard the colour is to match

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Y Graig. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Most customers in Y Graig get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Work for landlords and builders

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.
