Bath re-enamelling in Yarbridge without replacing anything

Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. Whether it’s a coating lifting around the plughole and thin, worn enamel in places, we can typically put it right.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

How the visit works

From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a full day, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Repairing versus replacing in Yarbridge

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is generally much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why book with us

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Landlord and trade work in Yarbridge

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Isle of Wight and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Common problems we fix in Yarbridge

Enamel wears gradually. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, typically first under the taps and around the waste.

People usually call us after spotting one of these:

  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, so limescale cannot build up.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

When a repair is not the answer

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
