How we handle bath repair in Bac

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a repair that is smooth, sound and hard to spot. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it’s level with the surrounding surface. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and people most often call us about snagging damage from a refit and a chipped rim or side.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Your questions about bath repair in Bac

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Often, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a picture.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Generally, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

What a repair cannot fix

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding

  • Pressed steel enamel

Repair or replace in Bac?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Looking after it afterwards

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we’re there, the work takes two to three hours for most chips. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, generally by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Let us know about parking or access

Advice

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
