Landlord and trade work in Barley

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Bath repair at your home in Barley

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the next day. Typical jobs include chips along the edge of the bath and deep scratches in acrylic, in acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

How the visit works

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes a few hours, depending on the damage. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the day after.

Advice

Should you replace it?

Replacing a fitted bath usually means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

How to care for the repair

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust sets in.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Barley. The price depends on:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Getting a price from pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any details about the material
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One picture of the entire bath

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Questions from Barley

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, we frequently do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Do you come to Barley?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Barley and the rest of Lancashire. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How invisible is a bath repair?

We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What we can’t put right

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
