Bath repair for Blaenclydach homes

Bath repair in Blaenclydach without replacing anything

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Typical jobs include scratches you can feel with a fingernail and damage beneath the taps, on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

When a repair is not the answer

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

What affects the price in Blaenclydach

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Blaenclydach. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Common questions in Blaenclydach

Do you charge for travel?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

In most cases. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Regularly. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

What does bath repair cost?

Prices start from £95. Every job gets a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item and your postcode.

What happens on the day

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a few hours. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Advice

Repair or replace: which is better?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
