Questions from Brixton

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

How invisible is a bath repair?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath, and we’ll tell you what to expect.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What happens next?

You’ll get a fixed quote back. There is no obligation to book.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Do you come to Brixton?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Brixton from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Bath repair in Brixton, done in place

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the day after. If you’re dealing with snagging damage from a refit and a hole punched through by something heavy, we can help.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What a repair cannot fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Aftercare tips

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Have new chips seen to early

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine, avoiding abrasives.

A small chip is a quick job. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like is not cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

What happens on the day

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It typically takes a few hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Brixton as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material and finish

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.
