Bath repair at your home in Broom Street

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding, and people most frequently call us about damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and scuffs and scratches in the surface.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

For landlords and businesses

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material and finish
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Quotes from your pictures

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Send us photos of the damage and one of the whole item, with your ME13 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

Common questions in Broom Street

Do you come to Broom Street?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Broom Street for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Frequently, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a photo.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Frequently, if there is access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

What we do, step by step

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

Advice

What a repair can’t fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic

Why repair rather than replace?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.
