How we handle bath repair in Brownsover

Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and you can normally bathe again the next day. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. Typical jobs include rust by the waste and overflow and damage beneath the taps, across cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Brownsover and across Warwickshire.

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

FAQs for Brownsover

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes, we do this often. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Do you come to Brownsover?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Brownsover from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • The material and finish
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Email us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Brownsover, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like is not cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Chips under the taps
  • Chips caused by builders

Questions to ask before you book

  • How soon you can use it again
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

Choosing a repair company

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What happens on the day

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you’re not left guessing. On site, it takes a morning or an afternoon for most jobs. We leave the room clean.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
