How we handle bath repair in Brynheulog

You do not need a new bath because of a chip. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding, and common reasons people contact us are chips along the edge of the bath and cracks in an acrylic bath.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

The process

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes a morning or an afternoon, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Do you need bath repair in Brynheulog?

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Common reasons people in Brynheulog contact us include:

  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Chips caused by builders
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Chips under the taps

10 questions to ask before you book

Why repair rather than replace?

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Honest limits

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What the surface is made of

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Brynheulog. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • Any details about the material
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One picture of the entire bath

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Brynheulog questions

How long does the repair take to cure?

Normally the next day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Are there extra charges for Brynheulog?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Do you work in Brynheulog?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Brynheulog and the rest of Bridgend. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Generally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

How to look after the repair

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.
