Bath repair for Pencoed homes

Bath repair in Pencoed without replacing anything

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. Common call-outs are for a cracked acrylic bath and impact holes in acrylic, across cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Store metal items away from the bath

There’s nothing special to do after a repair. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

The process

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take two to three hours for most chips, tidy-up included.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, typically by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice

Why repair rather than replace?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Prices start from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Common problems we fix in Pencoed

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, closely followed by shower heads. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

People generally call us when they notice one of these:

  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

If you manage property in Pencoed, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Common questions in Pencoed

Do you work in Pencoed?

We do. Technicians travel to Pencoed from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes, we do this often. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

What information do you need?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Usually. Send us a photo of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.
