What we cannot put right

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

How to care for the repair

It’s all simple stuff:

  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.

What we are called out for in Brynmenyn

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips. Fittings cause damage too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

Brynmenyn questions

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally the following day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Repair or replace in Brynmenyn?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • No extra charge for your area
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which typically takes two to three hours for most chips. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the next day.

How to prepare

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

What affects the price in Brynmenyn

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The type of damage
  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Brynmenyn. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A photo taken from further back
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Send us a photo of the damage and one of the whole item, with your CF32 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.
