Bath repair near Carlton

Bath repair in Carlton, done in place

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. You can generally use the bath the next day. We work on pressed steel enamel, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are chips caused by builders and rust by the waste and overflow.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Carlton and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Repair or replace in Carlton?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Usually it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

The process

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take a few hours, depending on the damage. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the next day.

Related advice

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

When to call us in Carlton

Rust normally starts where water sits, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Holes from dropped items

Questions to ask before you book

  • What happens if they find more damage
  • How long it needs to cure
  • If travel is included in the price
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers

10 questions to ask before you book

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How many areas need work
  • Access to the area

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Send pictures for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote the same day in most cases.

Work for landlords and builders

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple:

  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.

Carlton questions

Can you price it without visiting?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Do you cover the entire of Leicestershire?

We cover the entire UK, including Carlton and the rest of Leicestershire. Send your postcode with your photos and we will confirm dates.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before and we will plan for it.

Are there extra charges for Carlton?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Often, if there is access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
