Bath repair near Castlemilk

About our bath repair in Castlemilk

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. We are often asked to fix a hole punched through by something heavy and scratches you can feel with a fingernail, on pressed steel enamel, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Castlemilk: your questions answered

Do you cover Castlemilk?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Castlemilk from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working.

What we cannot put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Access to the area
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Castlemilk. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Any details about the material

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

What we are called out for in Castlemilk

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, with dropped shower heads close behind. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • How soon you can use it again
  • How your room will be protected

How to compare quotes

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It usually takes a few hours, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
