Bath repair in Cauldon, done in place

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, generally in a single visit. Whether it’s scuffs and scratches in the surface and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, we can normally put it right, on whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and pressed steel enamel alike.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Staffordshire.

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Staffordshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Cauldon as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

What affects the price in Cauldon

Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • The type of damage
  • What the surface is made of
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Doing more than one item at once

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Quotes from your pictures

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any details about the material

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

When a repair is not the answer

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic

Cauldon: your questions answered

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

What happens after I send pictures?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, typically with dates to choose from. You are under no obligation.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Repair or replace in Cauldon?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim generally crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Our bath repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • A fixed quote before you book
  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Everything repaired in place

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

How it works

We turn up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
