Bath repair near Waterfall

Repair or replace: which is better?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Bath repair in Waterfall without replacing anything

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel, and people most frequently call us about damage beneath the taps and chips along the edge of the bath.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back.

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Landlord and trade work in Waterfall

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will arrange it.

What we do, step by step

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we are doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. Allow a morning or an afternoon, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the next day.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know about parking or access

Waterfall: your questions answered

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Regularly. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Will I be able to see the repair?

We aim for a repair you cannot easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What happens after I send photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Frequently, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a photo.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic

What we are called out for in Waterfall

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose

What to look for in a quote

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What prep work is covered
  • How to care for the finish
  • How long it needs to cure
