How we handle bath repair in Chesterblade

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. There is no plumbing to disconnect, your tiles stay as they are, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. If you are dealing with a chipped rim or side and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

Landlord and trade work in Chesterblade

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

What affects the price in Chesterblade

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • The material
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any details about the material
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos through our quote form or call us. We’ll say right away if a repair is the right fix.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding

FAQs for Chesterblade

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. We tint the finish to your bath on site.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

How invisible is a bath repair?

The goal is a repair that blends in. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference.

Will the repair last?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim generally crack when it comes out, a new panel is frequently needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Our bath repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

The process

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take a few hours, tidy-up included.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Advice

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.
