Bath repair in Coalport without replacing anything

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the next day. Whether it’s deep scratches in acrylic and a cracked acrylic bath, we can usually put it right.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Repair or replace in Coalport?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Our bath repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

What we do, step by step

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take a few hours, depending on the damage.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Getting a price

Advice

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

A repaired bath needs no special treatment, beyond gentle cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Questions from Coalport

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Will the repair last?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Coalport.

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally the next day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send pictures.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

When we would advise against a repair

We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

For anyone letting property in or around Coalport, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.
