How we handle bath repair in Coleman's Hatch

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Common call-outs are for scuffs and scratches in the surface and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are covered after the visit.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It usually takes a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Our hiring checklist

Repair or replace: which is better?

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why book with us

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • No extra charge for your area
  • No need to remove anything
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Coleman's Hatch as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Coleman's Hatch. The price reflects:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Quotes from your photos

You can take the pictures on your phone, there is no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • What it’s made of, if you know

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Coleman's Hatch: your questions answered

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Normally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Usually within a day, though it depends on what we’ve done.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send photos.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.
