Bath repair near Colliston

How it works

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes two to three hours for most chips. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Let us know about parking or access

How to get a price

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Bath repair in Colliston, done in place

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We work on whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel, and people most frequently call us about impact holes in acrylic and a kit repair that didn’t last.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Colliston: your questions answered

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Which areas do you work in?

All of Angus, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

How invisible is a bath repair?

We aim for a repair you cannot easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference.

When a repair is not the answer

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic

What affects the price in Colliston

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material and finish
  • The colour and finish to match

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear photos are generally enough. Try to include:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The material, if you know it
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Why repair rather than replace?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Our bath repair starts from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Colliston. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why Colliston clients choose us
