When we would advise against a repair

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Bath repair in Crafthole, done in place

You do not need a new bath because of a chip. Our technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site. If you’re dealing with chips along the edge of the bath and scratches you can feel with a fingernail, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

What we do, step by step

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we are there, the work takes two to three hours for most chips in most cases. The room is left tidy.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

How to prepare

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know about parking or access

How to get a price

Common questions in Crafthole

Do you come to Crafthole?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Crafthole and the rest of Cornwall. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Usually, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a picture.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.

Do you cover the entire of Cornwall?

Everywhere in the UK, Crafthole included. Travel is included in the price.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send pictures.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What you get with us

  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

See our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Crafthole as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

If you manage property in Crafthole, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath

Care for the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The material and finish

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

When to call us in Crafthole

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.

Common reasons people in Crafthole contact us are:

  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips under the taps
