Need bath repair in Crawfordjohn?

Crawfordjohn: your questions answered

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Frequently, if there is access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Do you come to Crawfordjohn?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Crawfordjohn and the rest of South Lanarkshire. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, we often do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Will the price change on the day?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Bath repair in Crawfordjohn without replacing anything

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We are frequently asked to fix a cracked acrylic bath and scuffs and scratches in the surface, across roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and cast iron enamel.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Why repair rather than replace?

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Prices start from £95. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

What you get with us

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • No extra charge for your area
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

A repaired bath needs no special treatment, just sensible cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we’re there, the work takes a morning or an afternoon. We leave the room clean.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

What we are called out for in Crawfordjohn

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Chips under the taps
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting

What your quote should include

  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • How the colour is matched
  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

Our hiring checklist

Honest limits

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A steel bath rusted through

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

What affects the price in Crawfordjohn

Prices start from £95. There is no charge for travel to Crawfordjohn. The price comes down to:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How much damage there is
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed price

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

If you are in Crawfordjohn and want a price, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
