Bath repair in Denton

Signs you need bath repair in Denton

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

People usually call us after spotting one of these:

  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Rusty patches near the plughole

What to look for in a quote

  • Who will actually do the work
  • How your room will be protected
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • How long it needs to cure

About our bath repair in Denton

Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and the bath is back in use the day after. You will not need a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. Common call-outs are for deep scratches in acrylic and holes from dropped items, across cast iron enamel, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Work for landlords and builders

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.

What we cannot put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

Repairing versus replacing in Denton

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why book with us

  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Most jobs done in one visit

Denton questions

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Generally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Usually, yes. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

What happens after I send pictures?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

The process

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How to get a price

Related advice

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
