Bath repair in Easington without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We are frequently asked to fix damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, on pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and acrylic.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.

What we do, step by step

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job normally takes two to three hours for most chips. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Related advice

Easington: your questions answered

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Are there extra charges for Easington?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you cover Easington?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Easington and the rest of Buckinghamshire. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

When to call us in Easington

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips. Fittings cause damage too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • A cracked acrylic bath

How to compare quotes

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • How much damage there is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Getting a price from photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Details of any past repairs
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Natural light rather than flash

For a price in Easington, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Honest limits

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

Why repair rather than replace?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.
