Bath repair for Felley homes

Common problems we fix in Felley

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On steel and cast iron baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Chips caused by builders
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Chips on the rim or sides

10 questions to ask before you book

Bath repair in Felley without replacing anything

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. Our technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, mixing the colour on the day. Common call-outs are for a chipped rim or side and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, on whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. There’s no area surcharge for Felley. The price reflects:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Access to the area
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book.

How to get a fixed quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Most clients in Felley get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

The process

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes two to three hours for most chips, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the following day.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and water can get through to the floor below.
