About our bath repair in Field Head
Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and the bath is back in use the next day. You won’t need a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. If you are dealing with a kit repair that didn’t last and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.
We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Keeping it looking good
Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:
- Store metal items away from the bath
- Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
- Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
- Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
There is nothing special to do after a repair, just sensible cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and give it a rinse after each bath.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
How the visit works
Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. Allow two to three hours for most chips, and we will keep you posted as we go.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- Once it has cured, usually by the day after, the bath is ready to use.
Preparing for the visit
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
Getting a price
You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
Advice
Repair or replace: which is better?
For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Field Head. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Why Field Head clients choose us

What bath repair costs
Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. These are the things that affect it:
- What kind of damage it is
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- The colour and finish to match
- How many areas need work
The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.
Getting a price from photos
Phone photos are fine, there is no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- Any details about the material
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.
When to call us in Field Head
Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.
Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:
- A kit repair that didn’t last
- A cracked acrylic bath
- Deep scratches in acrylic
- A chipped rim or side
What to look for in a quote
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
- What the guarantee covers, and for how long
- How soon you can use it again
- Whether a trained technician does the job
Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
