Bath repair in Forest Hill

Bath repair in Forest Hill, done in place

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, mixing the colour on the day. We’re often asked to fix chips caused by builders and a chip where the taps sit, on pressed steel enamel, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

The process

We agree an arrival time beforehand. On site, it takes two to three hours for most chips in most cases. We leave the room clean.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What we are called out for in Forest Hill

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, closely followed by shower heads. Fittings cause damage too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Chips caused by builders

Choosing a repair company

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There is no charge for travel to Forest Hill. The price comes down to:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Doing more than one item at once

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Forest Hill. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any details about the material

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Forest Hill questions

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, very often. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Normally. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

What information do you need?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Are there extra charges for Forest Hill?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

When a repair is not the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Should you replace it?

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why us?

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • One visit for most repairs

Read our pricing and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.
