Trusted bath repair in Foundry

Bath repair in Foundry without replacing anything

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. We are frequently asked to fix hairline or through cracks in acrylic and a kit repair that didn’t last, in whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

How it works

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Let us know about parking or access

What we’re called out for in Foundry

Rust tends to begin where water collects, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

The things customers generally mention when they call include:

  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Chips under the taps
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Impact holes in acrylic

Questions to ask before booking

  • How soon you can use it again
  • What preparation is included
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

Our hiring checklist

Should you replace it?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Why book with us

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Work done at your home or business

See our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Foundry

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly

A repaired bath needs no special treatment, beyond gentle cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water can’t get in. Remove it before the repair.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Foundry

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will arrange it.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The type of damage
  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

How to get a fixed price

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

If you are in Foundry and want a price, the easiest route is photos: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Foundry questions

When can you do it?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Cornwall.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including older coloured suites.

Are there extra charges for Foundry?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.
