Should you replace it?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim usually crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Colour-matched on site
  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • One price list for the whole UK

What a repair can’t fix

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in Gabalfa

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which generally takes a morning or an afternoon. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Gabalfa use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

For anyone letting property in or around Gabalfa, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

Your questions about bath repair in Gabalfa

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Usually. Send us a photo of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Gabalfa included. Travel is included in the price.

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Do you work in Gabalfa?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Gabalfa. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many areas need work
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material and finish

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Quotes from your pictures

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. Try to include:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.
