Bath repair in Gateforth Park

Bath repair in Gateforth Park without replacing anything

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, with the colour mixed on site. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are snagging damage from a refit and chips along the edge of the bath.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

How it works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we are doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Clear the area around the damage

Questions from Gateforth Park

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working, which fades afterwards.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Do you cover Gateforth Park?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Gateforth Park. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Usually, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Typically, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.

Should you replace it?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Access to the area
  • How much damage there is
  • Doing more than one item at once

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your pictures

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details.

What we are called out for in Gateforth Park

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Chips caused by builders
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface

Questions to ask before booking

  • How long it needs to cure
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What aftercare is recommended

How to look after the repair

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
