Common questions in Greet

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Can you quote from pictures?

Generally, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

What do you need from me?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Bath repair at your home in Greet

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the following day. If you are dealing with holes from dropped items and deep scratches in acrylic, we can help.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Honest limits

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

Should you replace it?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

Work for landlords and builders

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Let us know about parking or access

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed quote

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Any details about the material
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

If you’re in Greet and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.
