About our bath repair in Hick's Mill

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Whether it’s a chip where the taps sit and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, we can help.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Hick's Mill: your questions answered

How do I get a price for bath repair in Hick's Mill?

Prices start from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of Cornwall. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Do you need bath repair in Hick's Mill?

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Chips on the rim or sides

What your quote should include

  • What prep work is covered
  • When it can be used again
  • Aftercare advice
  • If travel is included in the price

Our hiring checklist

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material and finish
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether we combine several jobs

A repair typically costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from pictures

Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Ensure they show:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Natural light rather than flash

If you’re in Hick's Mill and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it deals only with the damage in a single visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

Work for landlords and builders

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

How the visit works

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to two to three hours for most chips.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to get a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
