Bath repair in Hisomley, done in place

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. You can usually use the bath the next day. Our technicians work on whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and people most often call us about a chip where the taps sit and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Hisomley. The price reflects:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The type of damage

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

Getting a price from photos

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Any details about the material
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Signs you need bath repair in Hisomley

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On steel and cast iron baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

People generally call us when they notice something like this:

  • Holes from dropped items
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • A kit repair that didn’t last

What your quote should include

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • How your room will be protected
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What prep work is covered

What we can’t put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel

Hisomley questions

Can tenants book a repair?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working, which fades afterwards.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send photos.

Work for landlords and builders

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for two to three hours for most chips. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the next day.

How to prepare

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Repair or replace: which is better?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Typically it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Prices start from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why Hisomley customers choose us

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • No need to remove anything

Take a look at our pricing and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
