Bath repair near Hoghton

How we handle bath repair in Hoghton

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We are frequently asked to fix chips on the rim or sides and holes from dropped items, on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and acrylic.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will come back.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like is not cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

What we do, step by step

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Open a window if you can
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Ask for a price

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Advice

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How much damage there is

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking.

Send photos for a quote

Two or three clear photos are typically enough. Try to include:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • What it’s made of, if you know

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

When a repair isn’t the answer

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Hoghton

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Hoghton: your questions answered

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. We tint the finish to your bath on site.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

How much does bath repair cost in Hoghton?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.
