Signs you need bath repair in Killinghall

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, closely followed by shower heads. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Rust by the waste and overflow

What to look for in a quote

  • How your room will be protected
  • How long it needs to cure
  • If travel is included in the price
  • What prep work is covered

How we handle bath repair in Killinghall

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the day after. You will not need a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. We’re frequently asked to fix deep scratches in acrylic and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, across acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice

Killinghall questions

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Do you cover the whole of North Yorkshire?

We cover the whole UK, including Killinghall and the rest of North Yorkshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll offer you dates.

What information do you need?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Often, if there is access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many areas need work
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Killinghall. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash

For a price in Killinghall, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Why book with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Colour-matched on site

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust sets in.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.
