About our bath repair in Knightwood

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are chips along the edge of the bath and deep scratches in acrylic.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

What affects the price in Knightwood

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Doing more than one item at once

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

Quotes from your photos

You can usually get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any details about the material
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Your questions about bath repair in Knightwood

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Do you cover Knightwood?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Knightwood from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Frequently, if there’s access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Are there extra charges for Knightwood?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Generally, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a picture.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

There’s nothing special to do after a repair, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and give it a rinse after each bath.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.

Repairing versus replacing in Knightwood

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Our bath repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a few hours. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

What a repair cannot fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel

Common problems we fix in Knightwood

A cracked acrylic bath typically wasn’t supported properly. Legs that aren’t adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the bath move.

People generally call us after spotting something like this:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Holes from dropped items
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath

Questions to ask before you book

  • What prep work is covered
  • If travel is included in the price
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • How long it needs to cure
