How we handle bath repair in Larkhill

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the following day. We are often asked to fix a chipped rim or side and rust spots around the plughole, on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Rusty chip next to a bath plughole, before and after repair

How to care for the repair

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.

When to call us in Larkhill

Rust tends to begin where water collects, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Deep scratches in acrylic

What your quote should include

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Ask for a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Advice

What a repair cannot fix

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

Why repair rather than replace?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Access to the area
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The size and number of damaged areas

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

For a price in Larkhill, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

FAQs for Larkhill

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the entire UK, including Larkhill and the rest of Wiltshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll confirm dates.

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Regularly. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Will the repair last?

Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It carries our one-year guarantee.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
