Bath repair near Little Scotland

About our bath repair in Little Scotland

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We’re often asked to fix a kit repair that didn’t last and chips caused by builders, across whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and acrylic.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

How the visit works

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a few hours, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Open a window if you can
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

How to look after the repair

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

There’s nothing special to do after a repair, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and rinse after use.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Your questions about bath repair in Little Scotland

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Often, if there is access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

How long before I can use the bath?

Most baths can be used the day after. We confirm the time before we leave.

Is a bath repair permanent?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders in Little Scotland.

What a repair can’t fix

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel

What affects the price in Little Scotland

Prices start from £95. There is no charge for travel to Little Scotland. The price depends on:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What the surface is made of
  • What kind of damage it is

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A picture taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Why repair rather than replace?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Our bath repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Little Scotland. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Little Scotland

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • No need to remove anything
  • No extra charge for your area
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing

See our pricing or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

For landlords and businesses

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

When to call us in Little Scotland

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On steel and cast iron baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.

People typically call us when they notice something like this:

  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface

Questions to ask before booking

  • How long it needs to cure
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
