Why repair rather than replace?
Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

How we price bath repair
Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- The material
- How much damage there is
- Doing more than one item at once
Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Llanfaelog. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Send photos for a quote
The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- Something in shot to show the size
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.
The process
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which generally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.
- First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
How to prepare
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Clear the area around the damage

Related advice
Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Looking after it afterwards
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
- Do not leave a fresh chip for long
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.
When a repair isn’t the answer
A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:
- Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
- A steel bath rusted through
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Questions from Llanfaelog
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
Will the repair last?
A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps.
Do I have to be there?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.
Is the work guaranteed?
All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
Do you cover Llanfaelog?
We do. We send a technician to Llanfaelog for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
What areas do you cover?
We cover the entire UK, including Llanfaelog and the rest of Isle of Anglesey. Just include your postcode and we’ll offer you dates.
Is there a call-out fee?
There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.
Can pets and children be at home?
Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Can I fix it myself?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
