Bath repair in Lower Brailes

About our bath repair in Lower Brailes

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, is repaired in place. Nothing is unplumbed, the tiles are not touched, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. We regularly repair pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths, and the jobs we see most are deep scratches in acrylic and a chip where the taps sit.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Oxfordshire.

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

What happens on the day

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which typically takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Access to the area
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How to get a fixed price

Phone photos are fine, there is no need for anything special. Make sure they show:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • The material, if you know it
  • Something in shot to show the size

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

Common questions in Lower Brailes

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Do you cover Lower Brailes?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Lower Brailes and the rest of Oxfordshire. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do the materials smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

How soon can you come?

We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

When we’d advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A steel bath rusted through

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Lower Brailes

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

Repair or replace in Lower Brailes?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
