Bath repair in Lulsgate Bottom, done in place

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the day after. Whether it’s a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and impact holes in acrylic, we can help, whatever the material.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a fitted bath usually means a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. A repair fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Prices start from £95. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why book with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

See our pricing or bath cost comparison.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. There is no charge for travel to Lulsgate Bottom. The price comes down to:

  • The type of damage
  • Access to the area
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many items we do on one visit

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Lulsgate Bottom. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A picture taken from further back

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Lulsgate Bottom questions

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Generally, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a picture.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Regularly. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, very often. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Allow a few hours from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, generally by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Let us know about parking or access

How to get a price

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.
